  1. Does anyone know what the size and thread pattern is of the military L3314 wheel studs and nuts? Are they metric or inches? I measured with a set of calipers and got around 12.4 to 12.6 mm. The wheel nut fitted nicely on an M12x1.25 tap (gängtappar) but the M12x1.25 die (gängdies) wouldn't thread onto the stud. Sorry for my bad Swedish! So are they 1/2" UNF? I only have a metric tap and die set. The Norwegian Forsvaret parts catalogue does not give any sizes. Still waiting for my paint to arrive by ship from the mainland so I can finally finish and install my fuel tank on my Svalbard Feltwogn.
  2. So, I discovered that after goodness-knows how many years, the fuel tank was severely full of sludge and water. It was that that was blocking repeated new fuel filters and giving the fuel pump a hard time. Right now I have removed and cleaned and sealed the fuel tank, installed a new copper fuel line, and obviously a new filter. Just waiting for a nice day (not that many up here in the Arctic!) to paint the outside of the fuel tank and reinstall it with a new fuel gauge sender. Hopefully that should sort it. I did try pouring the old fuel through a coffee filter (delicious!) but half a litre of the old gasoline was enough to block a filter. Nasty stuff. As for the clutch issue, I readjusted the clutch fork release nuts on the slave cylinder to within specifications. But as it hasn't run since I removed the fuel tank I don't know if that has fixed the issue. We'll see. I'll keep posted when the tank is back in and if/when it starts!
  3. Thanks Puppe. May be a good call not to go for locking differentials, but I'd still be interested to know what may be available for the 4HA Salisbury axle, just out of curiosity really. I had ARB Air Lockers on my old Nissan Terrano back when I lived in Canada with great success and even though I did some pretty aggressive rock crawling I never managed to destroy any axle shafts or to explode differentials. I broke many other things though . I'm also wondering how you guys have hooked up reverse lights on the L3314. Is there an unused port for a reverse light switch in the M42 transmission that could take a switch from an M40 or M41 transmission as used on Volvo 544s, Amazons, and P1800s? Or do you just wire up a simple on-off switch? I guess I could go and look underneath my Felt now, but it is snowing hard, -16°C, and very windy!
  4. Its been a while since I've been on the forum, but my Feltvogn up here in Svalbard is still not running yet. I'm still repairing the fuel tank. And working under the vehicle in -20°C is no fun! But we are getting there. On the road soon once I've finished refurbishing the tank, new fuel line etc. As a new Felt owner, I have some questions about the Salisbury 4HA axles that I hope you guys can help with. Firstly, what is the axle shaft diameter and shaft spline count on the 4HA? Secondly, I have read on other forums that the Salisbury axles are very similar to Dana 44 or Dana 60 axles. Do you know which one the Feltvogn 4HA is similar to? I know that the Salisbury axle used on Land Rovers was basically a licensed version of the Dana 60 but with a few differences. Lastly (this is the main question), what are the options for front and back locking differentials? Is there an ARB Airlocker that fits, or a Powertrax Lock-Right or Grip, or a Detroit or Eaton ELocker? Any other options? I really don't want to weld my rear differential and would ideally like something on the front too. Hope you guys can help! Also, here's a picture of what happens in a blizzard with 100 km per hour (20 m per second) wind, blowing snow, and no door seals!
  5. Önskad: enkel hopfällbar plats för Volvo N3314 Valp / Felt. Jag skulle behöva det skickat till Svalbard. Skicka mig en PM. Tack, Mark
  9. So, my 1969 L3314N has finally arrived in Longyearbyen. And already the fun has started! I have some issues that I need your advice on. Firstly, I may have problems with the fuel pump. How much fuel should go through the fuel filter when the engine is trying to start? I have a clear fuel filter so I can see. When I try and start the engine, very little fuel enters the filter and the filter is mostly filled with air. Is this normal or do I have a fuel pump problem? May be it is blocked? There does appear to be some sediment in the fuel filter. At the moment the engine isn't even firing, just teh starter motor trying hard. Also, the clutch has died on me. I can physically get the gear stick into all gears, but there is no movement and the engine screams (if it starts!) like it is in neutral when I press the gas peddle. Only in 2nd gear does it creep forward very very slowly when I press the accelerator down fully. Lastly, any advice on how to remove stuck spark plugs!? All four are well and truly seized. Soak with WD40 and leave overnight? Thanks guys. I will post some pictures soon.
  12. Thanks Eile The VolvoL3314_Instruktionsbok is probably the closest I'll get in Swedish tot he Norwegian one - likely very similar. Tack!
  13. Does anyone have a digital copy of <<Hefte Instuktørnotater Volvo Felt>> (that's the Instructor Notes Booklet for the L3314N felt) that they're willing to share, or a print copy? Just trying to assemble as much literature as I can before my felt arrives.
