  1. I would really like to find some. Its the last thing on my trick thats 24v (running a 12-24 converter just for those). If anyone finds a source to buy them, please post here.
  2. I think you can fit standard wheels on the TigerExped kit, i was in contact with them some time ago, an 8 bolt volvo hub would be available.
  3. I'm not really impressed with this kit. You lose dual circuit on the front, and it requires custom machined discs. You would be better making a group buy for the Tiger Exped conversion, its the best i have seen.

  6. To answer my own question, i researched and found the following: Item Volvo number OEM Needle bearing 183637-8 INA BK4520 Axle bearing 11017-1 SKF 6210 Inner wheel 183430-8 Timken JLM10498 + JLM104910 Outer wheel cup 183505-7 Timken JLM508748 Outer wheel cone 183506-5 Timken JLM508710
  7. Does anyone know if the wheel / portal axle bearings are available on the market (rather than OEM Tatanka) And if so, do you have part numbers? Thanks
  8. I would be interested if anyone here has a C303 in Switzlerland and your experience of registration , inspection and (if possible) modifications.
  9. Yes, these threads were a great inspiration for me too. p.s My power steering uses a Saginaw unit. It was done by the previous owner so i dont have any details. They have welded a mount onto the chassis. I'll take some pics later and try to find a part number.
  10. The standalone thing is relatively easy to do (once you have slogged through the loom and researched, which i have done for you). I'm not an expert on the motors, but you can ask questions on superturbodiesel.com, very useful site. The sump works fine, you have to change the oil pump to from a OM648, but it all drops on. The rear does not mate with the 722.6 as the holes dont line up, but i will adapt it.
  11. Of course, happy to share, thats why we are here. I'm currently writing up the procedure to use the OM606 in standalone.
  12. I don't know where it comes from, or what it costs as i got it for free from a friend
  13. The crossmember in place. I just need to add a bracket at the rear to support the transfer box.
  14. Hi Erik, Thanks for your compliments. The battery box is not above the prophshaft so it should clear with any upward motion. The compressor box has a clearance greater that the distance to the bump stop, also it is not above the highest part of the diff. So it should be ok... If its not i will modify.
  15. A bit of a long overdue update. Recent progress: - Installed marine cables for the transfer box high/low and the autobox selector. - Moved the battery box and OBA compressor between the chassis. -Transfer box tested in place, and crossmember constructed. Some pics: Crossmember Battery and compressor boxes Compressor box contents The lifting cab in action isolators & main fuses The custom manifold OBA tank New version dash panel
  16. I will modify my tube crossmember with a half cut out, to allow the transmission brake to fit. I will also make a bolted crossmember which will hang from the original gearbox mounts and run under the rear mount of the merc box, supporting it. I will also make a link bracket from here that supports the front of the transfer box.
  17. I have 2 TGB gearboxes to sell. The first is a standard 4-speed box. I do not know the exact condition or km but it is presumed to be working correctly. Looking at the records, i think this one has only travelled 18k km The second is a special conversion. It is a standard 5-speed gearbox from a 6x6, but it has had the internal gears replaced by those from an Iveco 35-8. With ratios 1st gear 6.0:1 and 2nd gear is 3.63:1 and 5th gear is 1:1. SO very good for off road crawling. I am usnure of the distance used, but it it likely to be less than 50k km since rebuild. I am not sure of the value of these, so i am open to sensible offers. Please PM
  18. Are you sure you have the space for the overdrive unit? Remember it sticks out of the rear of the transfer box. On mine the tube crossmember is quite close. (I will have to cut away a section for the transmission brake)
  19. why do you not just use the flex disc that came from the mercedes? It already fits the gearbox output shaft. Look at my thread here http://www.terrangbil.net/forum/index.php?/topic/11062-my-restoration-and-conversion-to-overland-camper/ This is just a mock-up to measure the distance. You can see that my transfer box moves back by about 60mm. I will have to get the prop shafts lengthened and shortened respectively. I will also have a support member which runs side to side under the coupling and supports the rear of the gearbox and the front of the transfer box. p.s do you have an email address for Kurt, the last i sent bounced.
  20. Regarding the moving of the generator, do you use the same belt? It stays the same length? Do you have any dimensioned drawings of the bracket? It would save me re-inventing what you have done.
  21. TCF could you please link to the OM606 -> NV4500 -> LT230 kits please? My conversion is here http://www.terrangbil.net/forum/index.php?/topic/11062-my-restoration-and-conversion-to-overland-camper/ I decided to stay with the Volvo transfer case and the MB Autobox.
