TGB 30/40 specs and availability

Hi,

 

We are new to the forum.  Sorry this is in english and if possible could you reply in english.  Thank you.

 

We are building an expedition vehicle with 16 dog kennels for our sled dogs and a camper unit for ourselves.

After researching for 8 months we have decided the volvo TGB's are best suited to our needs.

 

we would like to know the following information from any forum members or staff.

We need accurate specs on the TGB 20 and 30/40. 

We specifically need to know: 

the cab height and width, from the bed of the truck.

The actual bed length and width of both the TGB 20 and the 30/40

true max payload for both the TGB 20 and the 30/40 if it is a flatbed

Where can either a TGB 20 and/or TGB 30/40 be ordered or purchased.  We will import to Canada, no problem.

We want to acquire the vehicle within the next two months to have the custom kennels built and mounted and the camper added.  We are planning to leave for a 1 year Baja to Alaska and Cross Canada trip starting in December or January if possible.  At the end we will be settling in the Yukon and preparing to race the Iditarod and Yukon Quest dog sled races with our kids (dogs).

You don't mention whether the camper has to be arctic-proof, but assuming

 

that it must be (while neither mentioning that you will build a camper box

 

from scratch), I don't think any single-cab model will do, which makes a

 

TGB40 with 'crewcab' box on the pickupbed the most decent option.

 

Total bed-length of both TGB20 and TGB40 is about 4m (minus the crew-cab

 

box of about 150cm?), which then leaves 2.5m for cargo on the rear.

TGB40 is much more truck, with 300HP diesel, vs 125HP gasoline of the TGB20....unless you also want to be able to travel the most narrow outback roads, I would choose a TGB40....price isn't that much different either.
