Costin Moga Postad 8 Augusti , 2013 Rapport Share Postad 8 Augusti , 2013 I'm looking for free-wheel-hubs for Sugga. If anyone has for sale, please let me know. By the way, does anyone know if possible to mount the original hub but with the gears machine grinded in order to disengage the front axle shafts ? Stefan from Altyco suggested me this, but no further details...
If you can get some spare outer flanges and machine out the splines or make a dummy cap then that should work. There was a company that made a freewheel hub with the correct splines ,i read this in one of the forums but i cannot remember where i saw it. Costin Moga Postad 9 Augusti , 2013 Författare Rapport Share Postad 9 Augusti , 2013 Glynn, flanges are available, but there is a bolt screwed in the center of the axle shaft, engaged to the shaft and flange. Removing it and mounting a machined flange will eliminate the shaft end rest. It will rub on something. I thought fixing a pressure bearing and leave the bolt to hold the shaft while rotating in the bearing. Original free-wheel-hubs were made by AVM Brasil. They are no longer in stock. However, AVM still has in production a model for the Engesa trucks which has the same (or very similar) pattern for the outer mount - the 8 bolts fixed on the wheel (130mm vs 137mm diameter of the circle passing through the center of the bolts / this should not be a problem), but is different inside - 20 splines vs 10 splines of the TP21 shaft. I considered trying to machine the inner moving part of the AVM hub from a fixed original Volvo flange to fit the shaft, but did not have the courage to continue as if I fail, it's an expensive try ! Glynn Postad 12 Augusti , 2013 Rapport Share Postad 12 Augusti , 2013 True but nothing will be moving and the steering turning will keep the cv joint central. But I agree that a bearing would guarantee this.
