Fuel tank sender

Rekommendera Poster

Hi all is there an easy way to get access to the fuel tank sender in the fuel tank?

Or do I have to drop the fuel tank?

My sugga is in a very small garage and getting at the back is not easy.

I tried removing the instrument panel with the power on

(bad idea as it shorted on the isolator switch and now the fuel gauge reads full all the time)

Thanks

I have cut a large hole just above the sender in the panel. The spare wheel won't mind...

Or drop the fuel tank.

By the way, I had to mount a new sender and a new gauge, as the old ones were in very poor non-working condition, far beyond repair. Is there any way to make the old gauge read what the sender says, in other words is there a new sender available on the market matching the original gauge ?

Thanks all, I removed the spare wheel and there is the sender.

Cleaned the contacts and now it works again.

For information there is a float inside the tank with an arm which turns a gear inside the tank this then turns a shaft coming through the top of the tank. Outside the tank under a metal cover is a variable resistor
