Costin Moga Postad 26 Februari , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 26 Februari , 2014 HEATERNew heater ventilator installed (requiering some adaptor to be machined for fixing).Original tap was leaking therefore I replaced it with a unit coming fron a London Taxi, allowing to be operated from inside through a cable (similar to choque cable) which I positioned just near the steering column.I thing Landrover Series 1 or 2 has a similar part which might be a straight fit, but I prefer the London cab one. And it was cheaper (ebay.co.uk).Below images of original and of replacement including all necessary parts. 1 Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser

Costin Moga Postad 27 Februari , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 27 Februari , 2014 There are some files which cannot be uploaded (*cdr). I can send those to an email address, though. It's the speedometer drawing not as a picture but vectorised for printing programes. It is needed to print on glass. The *jpg image is not enough... Wingflyer Postad 27 Februari , 2014 Rapport Share Postad 27 Februari , 2014 I can convert .cdr to .pdf and upload. Mail to: sten(a)stonab.se. By the way, how do you print on glass? Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser
Costin Moga Postad 27 Februari , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 27 Februari , 2014 Silkscreen printing using special paint for glass. They usually use CorelDraw program for printing. Vectorised file can be scaled, modified (color for instance)... Original I think was special glow paint. I did not had this paint, but white will do the job. Costin Moga Postad 28 Februari , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 28 Februari , 2014 SEALS Seals were a problem from the very begining. Tracking the right parts was tricky. WINDSCREEN SEAL ALTYCO - Stefan told me I purchased the very last one. If true I got very lucky... Installing was dificult and I couldn't get it right unless glued on the glass, working on 30cm length at the time, let it dry clamped, as depicted. TRUNK Had no ideea how the original looked like (maybe someone will post an image with that, I'll appreciate). Replaced with what I thought would fit best. Glued. HATCH Original from ALTYCO. DOORS Top + left + right replaced by PV444/544 purchased here: http://volvoonderdelen.com/PV444/Rubber-body/Rubber-door-PV444PV544-left-right-side-For-Volvo-1899/ Fuzzies - ebay.com (USA). Easy to form on door contour. Bottom - I modified the door trim (see images) by shortening it to clear the floor. Installed a metal cover underneath. I used two seals on door bottom, one pressing into the body and the other fixed on the body pressing on to the door. I glued also a rubber (neoprene self-adhesive) D-shape 8mm thick seal on the doors pressing vertically on door pillars (otherwise it was nothing there...). VENT WINDOW Could not find any proper replacement, so originals still there (and allowing water to pour in...) 1 Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser
Costin Moga Postad 28 Februari , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 28 Februari , 2014 BLOWN HEAD GASKET Well - this happened. We got it wrong. Just after finishing the car, in mayden trip, after just 3 km , this accured. What we did: we assembled the engine following manuals using specified torques. Original bolts were used. Engine head was torqued several times (progressive) to specifications. Engine cold. WRONG ! What should have been done: torque the engine progressive when cold, start it, get it warm, retorque !!! Use the car few km, retorque again. Replace the original 50 years old bolts with new engine head automotive quality ones (we got these from VW if remember well and cut to size). Also the head gasket from ALTYCO was not best quality. I had one made locally using a modern metal sheet core (much stronger) + 2 layers of copper as per original (giving same width). Original has a sort of asbestos core. Very weak. Runned over 1000 km since, no problem. Hope we did it well this time... 1 Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser

The windscreen seal is the same for volvo 912, the only differense is the size. Buy a seal for volvo 912 from Altyco and cut it down a few cm and it fits the sugga! 2 Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser

Costin Moga Postad 28 Februari , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 28 Februari , 2014 It is a NOTEK WW2 german blackout lamp, used on all wehrmacht vehicles either tank or staff car. Notek factory was in Checkoslovakia, therefore after 1945 it produced for Warsow pact armies, including Romanian. These lamps were used untill the 60's, beeing replaced with other models, usually on both sides of the vehicle. Any ideea where to buy a ventilation windows seal ? Costin Moga Postad 1 Mars , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 1 Mars , 2014 I guess the original paint can be seen here: http://www.soldr.se/ , on the first Sugga. Paint on my car is not the original color, but RAL 7016 'blaugrau' matt as used by Luftwaffe in WW2. Wehrmacht used the 7021 (much) darker grey. But I liked the lighter shade, plus it is a little more blueish. It was used in movies as color of wehrmacht just for it looked better even if not historical correct. It's called 'hollywood efect' - now we all have in mind the lighter shade as original Wehrmacht. False. Anyway, paint on my car is Standox RAL 7016 Blaugrau full matt (2K type paint). 1 Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser

Fimbulvetr Postad 8 Mars , 2014 Rapport Share Postad 8 Mars , 2014 Incredibly beautiful, Costin Moga. I hope I can one day have a Sugga as fine as yours. In the mean time, may I ask if you found suitable replacement transmission lamina, "top end overhaul"-kit (engine head gaskets and "packningar") and rear crankshaft seals? If so, please tell us where. Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser
Costin Moga Postad 8 Mars , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 8 Mars , 2014 Cranckshaft rear seal is made of felt (not best solution...), actually 2 pcs of felt assembled together as a ring. From ALTYCO. Engine head gascket was initially purchased from ALTYCO, but my guess it is not original (factory made), but a sort of manufacture copy. Not very good quality, same construction as original with asbestos core and 2 layers of copper. I had one made locally replacing the asbestos core with a 3 layer modern material having itself a metal sheet core + 2 layers of blackish material for 'molding' on the engine. Made a sandwitch with this one and same 2 copper layers. Same width, stronger than original. I described this earlier.... What do you mean by transmission lamina ? If it is clutch friction material - ALTYCO. Mentioned earlier... Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser
Fimbulvetr Postad 10 Mars , 2014 Rapport Share Postad 10 Mars , 2014 I see. I'm sorry I missed you mentioning that earlier but hoped that maybe you had found an alternative place since Altyco are currently not carrying those items. Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser
Costin Moga Postad 10 Mars , 2014 Författare Rapport Share Postad 10 Mars , 2014 Felt seal can be manufactured if proper fabric is sourced. Clutch friction plate - I think it is possible to cut to shape from sheet. Not sure about that... Head gasket - I can help if interested by ordering locally (these are custom made - no guarantee, but worked on my car). Citera Länk till kommentar Dela på andra webbplatser
